Midwinter - 1910 - 1987 - Stroke-On-Trent, England

Roy Midwinter takes over the company in 1950 and turns it into a leading company in tableware. Aesthetically pleasing modern 50's designs in the shapes known as "Stylecraft" "Fashion" and "Fine" produced in the 60's. These ranges made Midwinter become one of the biggest innovators in tableware. A name to be familiar with is Jessie Tait, responsible for Midwinter's most sought after designs such as the Domino, Zambesi, Spanish Garden, Toadstool etc.. She was also involved in the Stonehenge designs produced later on in the early 70's. Stonehenge was a series that was introduced in 1972 that had a modern rustic textured look. Mostly designed by Eve Midwinter and Jessie Tait some of the more well known designs were "Moon" "Sun" and "Earth" designs that were of the same pattern with different color schemes that are popular among collectors. J G Meakin bought out Midwinter Pottery in 1968 then in 1970 J G Meakin gets bought out by Wedgwood. Wedgwood closes business in 1987.
