Upsala Ekeby - 1886 - 1970’s - Sweden

Upsala Ekeby was founded in 1886 in Uppsala Sweden where they first started the production of bricks and tiles. Designer Vicke Lindstrand from Orrefors became creative leader directing production from 1942 to 1962. Upsala's production of modern ceramics and porcelain dinnerware was most successful in the 60's. Nature like modern Scandinavian patterns were often used in there wares. Upsala-Ekeby aquired such companies as Rörstrand and Kosta Boda. The Company fell apart in the 70's and was sold off in 1980 ceasing production.
